“This program definitely has an impact on students. I am in a unique position to be an employee of the opera AND a music teacher of these students, so they come well prepared to absorb the performance with an educated level of preparation. Thank you.”
Anthony Quartuccio, Kehillah High School
“This is a lovely way to introduce children to Opera! Thank you for the program and high quality of whole experience.”
Cynthia Neuendorffer, Los Pinos Academy
“My students loved it more than I did. At intermission they were discussing everything about the play, from the costumes, the stage set up, and the plot. They were really engaged! Great experience for all of them. Some had never been to an opera and others had been to several. It was great to see them interact and relate their ideas, emotions, and experiences.”
Dana Buller, SJUSD Home Study
“This was a wonderful opportunity to introduce opera to students who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it. The students were fully immersed during the entire time.”
Justin Kang, Whispering Hills Academy
“My students were prepared before the performance as they knew the story and were familiar with the music. This preparation really enhanced their experience at the performance and they were completely engaged! They knew what to expect and were able to handle the adult subject matter quite well. This is such a wonderful program, and I can’t thank you enough for providing this opportunity for my students! They have not stopped talking about the opera, and one of my 4th grade boys exclaimed, “I loved it!” Other students have asked me where they could get the music to listen to on their own, so I know this was a very valuable experience for them! Thank you!!!”
Lisa Call, Almond School
“The students really enjoyed the performance. This one was more difficult for them than was “Die Fledermaus,” just due to the content, but they were still very impressed with everything from the sets and costumes to the singing and the theater. I continue to love this program for my students! It’s the best way I know of to get them exposed to an art form which I love so much and which they would not necessarily be exposed to otherwise. I hope you continue offering these educational programs for many years. All of our experiences with OSJ (masterclasses and dress rehearsals) have been exceptional and very engaging to the students.”
Barbara West, Branham High School
