As summer kicks into high gear, so will our older Rising Stars – as they take you on a funky journey down a familiar brick road in The Wiz!

We all know the beloved story of L. Frank Baum’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz:” Dorothy, a restless farm girl eager to escape her humdrum daily life, is transported via tornado to a magical world of Munchkins and talking scarecrows. On her way to beg the Wizard to send her home, Dorothy meets loyal friends who help her defeat the Wicked Witch of the West – and she ultimately learns that, really, there’s no place like home.

Infused with an exuberant mix of rock, gospel and soul, this boisterous twist on an old favorite is a virtual musical circus for everyone!

Sing along to the Tony Award-winning score, including “Ease on Down the Road,” “Be a Lion” and “If You Believe!”

CMT Mainstage will heat up our summer stage with the passion and power of one of the greatest musicals of all: West Side Story. Shakespeare’s young and idealistic Romeo and Juliet are transported to mid-century New York City, where their forbidden love is caught between warring street gangs, the established local-boy Jets and the interloping Puerto Rican Sharks. The heart-wrenching struggle to survive in an environment of hate, ignorance, violence and prejudice is poignantly represented, in what is still one of the most innovative and relevant musical dramas of our time.  The dark themes, sophisticated music, extended dance numbers and focus on social issues of West Side Story marked a turning point in American musical theater. Critics found it “savage, restless and electrifying;” the bold choreography, the gripping tension and the visual excitement combined to create a memorable experience that continues to speak to audiences today.

CMT closes every season with a special production, performed exclusively by 6-9-year-olds.  This year, the Junior Talents will present a brand-new version of Robin Hood, written by accomplished composer Kem Hauge and our own CMT Artistic Director, Kevin R. Hauge!

Long ago and far away, a traveling troupe of performers set up tents at the edge of a forest to tell the thrilling tale of clever Robin Hood, fearless Maid Marian, and the loyal band of Merry Men.  Come along on their heroic adventures, as they rob from the rich to give to the poor, and create their own legend.

Since the late Middle Ages, the English-speaking world has been sharing stories about the most charming of outlaws, through poems, ballads, plays, books, films, animation and television. This musical will bring these well-known characters to life in a whole new way!
